The Saint Louis Zoo brings visitors nose-to-nose with a swimming polar bear and offers new insights into the lives of polar bears and the Arctic people who rely on them. The new Polar Bear Exhibit includes stained and stamped areas that are part of the polar bear interaction areas, and the seeded concrete walks that are access to the exhibit from the Penguin Puffin Coast. The acid stained area is located in the viewing building at the large pool.
All architectural exterior concrete was poured with a Solomon integral base color. Stamped areas used a Brickform charcoal release for accent and a Scofield water based gloss sealer. Sand themed walkways were poured using an integrally colored grout mix and seeded with stones and shells per the Architects instruction and sealed with a water based cure and seal. Interior SOG was stained with a Scofield Chemstain and sealed with a Scofield Gloss Sealer.
