Parc Frontenac
St. Louis, Missouri
This facility services approximately 350 Gap and Old Navy stores in the northeastern region of the United States. The project included the main distribution bulk storage facility and the associated office components, along with two additional stand-alone buildings set on a master plan campus design.
The Gap/Old Navy northeast distribution center contains 2,400,000-square-feet of floors and 1,090,500-square-feet of tilt-up panels. Concrete Strategies constructed 1,565 panels with an average height of 53-feet, making up 22,446-lineal-feet. The project included a 2-story, tilt-up office area and won the Tilt-Up Concrete Association Award in 2001.
Concrete Strategies constructed the entire facility with load-bearing, tilt-up concrete exterior skin technology. The building also contains more total square footage of MFL walls than perimeter wall. The facility contains eight specific fire zones, each bounded by firewalls. These zones have high bay rack storage, combination rack storage, pick and multi-level pick modules, receiving dock areas, and sorting and shipping. The material handling and racking systems included within this facility were state-of-the-art and required expert coordination by Concrete Strategies for the facility’s complex and intricate systems.
The accelerated schedule provided an additional challenge for the construction team. The project also included an excess of 750,000-cubic-yards of rock blasting prior to the start of foundations.
